My interest in staging was sparked by my realization of the need to help home sellers present their homes in the best possible way. I spend considerable time with home buyers to determine their criteria and do extensive research to find the right properties to show them. When I found properties that met their desires I would arrange to show the homes to these ready, willing and able buyers. Many times the house was exactly what they were looking for but they couldn’t see it because they were distracted by “stuff”. Oftentimes it was clutter, homes that were actually spacious would seem cramped and small. Sometimes the homes were outdated and the buyers felt too much work was needed. There are times that I would drive them to a home only to have them say they were not interested in going inside because the home lacked curb appeal. The majority of buyers only know what they see, not the way it is going to be. I found this to be very frustrating for my buyers, the sellers and me! So I decided to do something about it.

I earned my Accredited Staging Professional designation by  training with the first lady of home staging, Barb Schwarz. In addition to comprehensive classroom instruction, time was spent hands on staging a local home. I was amazed by the difference we made by rearranging furniture, dressing up bathrooms and making the 1970 era kitchen look inviting. Sellers often remark that they can’t believe how great their homes look and they are proud to put their homes on the market; knowing that it will impress buyers the minute they walk through the door.
